The flag football season begins September 30th, the first day a flag football match is allowed by the GHSA, and with the sport expanding from three divisions to four this season, there is much speculation regarding each division’s preseason polls.
In the state’s highest, Division 4, McEachern opens the season at the top with Marietta, Central-Carroll, Colquitt County and Mountain View filling the top 5. Mill Creek, Grayson, Denmark, Central Gwinnett and Paulding County round out the top 10.
In Division 3, Lithia Springs, the 2022 Class 5A-6A champions, open as the top-ranked team ahead of Class 7A’s defending champion Pope, Milton, Blessed Trinity and Villa Rica.
Allatoona finished last season as runner-up in Class 5A-6A after losing to Pope 14-13 and opens atop Division 2 ahead of Greenbrier, North Oconee, New Hampstead and Loganville in the top 5.
Three-time defending-champion Southeast Bulloch opens atop Division 1 and leads Dodge County, Columbus, Washington County and Harris County in the top 5.
