The state basketball tournament begins Tuesday-Wednesday for the first round after each of the state’s eight region placed four seeds into the respective brackets.
In Class 7A, Brookwood tops the class entering the tournament with North Forsyth, Norcross, Grayson and Cherokee rounding out the top 5. River Ridge tops Class 6A and leads Lovejoy, Buford, Rome and Kell.
Woodward Academy leads Class 5A ahead of Greenbrier, Forest Park, Warner Robins and Griffin rounding the top 5. Luella is the team to beat in Class 4A and leads Carver-Columbus, Baldwin, Jefferson and Marist in the top 5.
In Class 3A, Lumpkin County tops the class in search of the program’s first-ever title. In Class 2A, Fannin County leads the way ahead of Elbert County, Rabun County, Dodge County and Northeast-Macon.
Holy Innocents’ tops Class A Private ahead of St. Francis, Mount Paran Christian, Wesleyan and Hebron Christian. In Class A Public, Lake Oconee Academy is the team to beat with Montgomery County, Screven County, Taylor County and Pelham chasing.
