No major changes in the pre-playoff poll in 5A as the Top 10 clinched postseason spots on November 1st. A thing to note is Lovejoy defeated Morrow 14-7 and Glynn Academy defeated Evans 28-24, and both clinched spots in the playoffs. Glynn Academy will take on No. 8 Rome. Lovejoy will take on No. 6 Woodward Academy.
No. 1 Peach County will be a No. 3 seed and host Chestatee in the first round. No. 2 Sandy Creek will be a No. 4 seed and host Adairsville this week. No. 3 Jefferson is the top overall seed in the bracket and will host Monroe in the first round. No. 4 Westover is a No. 9 seed in the bracket and will play Luella. No. 5 Calhoun is in the same quadrant as No. 1 Peach County and will face Spalding as a No. 6 seed. No. 6 Cherokee Bluff clinched a No. 8 seed and will host Monroe Area. No. 7 LaGrange clinched a No. 20 seed and will face Lumpkin County on the road. No. 8 Douglass-Atlanta will be a No. 11 seed and host Cairo in the first round. No. 9 Northwest Whitfield will travel to face Jenkins in the first round. No. 10 Oconee County clinched a No. 17 seed and will travel to face Westside-Augusta in the first round.
With the Power rankings being unveiled on Saturday night, here is how the bracket shapes up for the top 10. No. 1 Toombs County got a No. 6 seed and will host Southwest. No. 2 Dublin will be a two-seed in the bracket and host Gordon Central. No. 3 Fannin County will host the no. 32-team Vidalia after clinching the No. 1 overall seed. No. 4 Northeast will be the No. 8 seed and host Swainsboro. No. 5 Thomasville will be a No. 7 seed and host Bacon County. No. 6 Commerce will be a No. 11 seed and host Bremen in the first round. No. 7 County will be a No. 9 seed and will face Dade County. No. 8 Heard County clinched a No. 3 seed and will host McNair. No. 9 Dodge County will be a No. 13 seed and will host Chattooga. No. 10 Worth County will be a No. 4 seed and will host Coosa.
No. 1 Manchester will host Marion County in the first round. No. 2 Bowdon will host Taylor County and will be on the opposite side of the bracket than Manchester and they could potentially face off in the title game. No. 3 Lincoln County will host Charlton County. No. 4 Irwin County will travel on the road to face No. 5 Greene County in a top-five matchup in the first round. No. 6 Clinch County will host Warren County in the first round. No. 7 Brooks County will host Washington-Wilkes in the first round of the playoffs.
