Post-game Blog: Dawgs take care of business, 34-10

Georgia got exactly what they needed today as they dismantled Vanderbilt 34-10 in Vanderbilt Stadium. A 30-yard Prince Miller punt return to the Vandy 31 set up a 20-yd touchdown pass from Joe Cox to Caleb King early in the fourth quarter to give the Dawgs an insurmountable 27-10 lead.

After surrendering an 80-yard touchdown drive to the ‘Dores on the first drive of the second half to make the score 17-10, UGA outscored Vandy 17-0 the rest of the way.

Joe Cox was solid today, going 16-31 for 226 yards and two touchdowns. The senior from Charlotte rebounded after completing 2-8 with an interception in the first quarter. Cox completed passes to nine different receivers.

The Bulldogs struck first today when Joe Cox hit A.J. Green for a 65-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Cox stepped back, threw to his left down the line of scrimmage to Green, who was in man-to-man coverage. Green then shook the first defender, followed his blocks, then cut back and scored on an amazing run after the catch.

Vandy closed to within 7-3 in the second, but could draw no closer.

In the second, Caleb King finished off a 64-yard touchdown drive with a two-yard plunge to give Georgia a 14-3 lead. The drive was highlighted pass passes of 35 and 21 yards to Rantavious Wooten and Orson Chalres respectively.

Prior to the half, the Dawgs would strike again as Blair Walsh nailed a 42-yrd field goal after missing from 56 yards out. Vandy was called for leaping on the miss, which is a 15-yard penalty.

After an 80-yard touchdown drive to start the second by Vandy, the Dawgs answered with another Walsh field goal.

Georgia would finish off the Dores with a bruising 68 yard drive on 10 plays to complete the scoring. The drives was all runs and culminated on a Fred Munzenmeier nine-yard touchdown run up the middle on third and goal.

Georgia (4-3, 3-2) will now rest next week before travelling to Jacksonville to take on No. 1 Florida.
