Pirates will try to make it three in a row this Friday against North Springs

Before going into its bye week, the football team tasted victory for the first time this season with a 28-4 victory over Lithonia. Coming off of their bye, the Pirates followed that up with a 42-7 victory over Lakeside last Saturday. Stone Mountain had a laundry list of players who had big games. Wide receiver Antonio Murray had four catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns, with both touchdowns coming from quarterback Jhyree Harris. It only took Michael Gilbert 13 carries to get 126 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Robert Nelson had 16 tackles and Milton Meeks had 10 tackles. “This was Senior Night for us, so the kids are kind of riding high,” said Pirate head coach Charles Reeves. “We’re going to get back [to practice] and get ready for North Springs.” Stone Mountain (2-4, 2-3) will take on North Springs on Saturday, as they will try to make it three wins in a row. … The boys cross country team finished second in their DeKalb County Week 6 race. Josh Kelley led the boys with a sixth-place finish.
