Pike County is a program on the rise after head coach Stephen Holmes took over prior to the 2024 season. He has already led the team to its best season since 2018 and turned the Pirates from a 0-10 team in 2023 to a 5-6 team in 2024.
A major piece of that turnaround is 2027 tight end Tucker Saporita.
Saporita is one of the top sophomore tight ends in the state, being in the same category as other stars like Oconee County’s Mason Hall and Milton’s Grant Haviland. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, he has continued to grow since entering high school, adding an inch in height and 10 pounds between his ninth and tenth-grade seasons.
He is a versatile player, moving around and playing a hybrid tight end/wide receiver role for the Pirates. He has spent time at both quarterback and edge rusher, showcasing a diverse skill set. When playing his natural position of tight end, he shows no fear of being physical, acting as an aggressive blocker both at the line of scrimmage and downfield. Along with his blocking, he has demonstrated the ability to make big plays in the receiving game. While his route running is still raw, he has soft hands and catches almost anything within reach.
In addition to football, he is a three-sport athlete, playing for both the basketball and soccer teams. With the soccer team, he is part of a strong Pirates squad that is coming off a quarterfinals appearance in the 2024 season.
On the recruiting trail, he is already receiving interest from FBS programs. He has been looked at by Georgia Tech and Georgia State. While he has yet to receive any offers, it is expected that they will start coming as soon as this summer. His size will certainly turn heads, especially as he continues to grow.
