Daniel Litt accounted for two touchdowns in the football team’s 17-10 win over Chamblee last Friday. The senior quarterback found Jeremy Barnett on a screen pass to help put the Panthers up 10-0 in the second quarter and then ran in the game-winning score to help Southwest DeKalb (5-1, 5-0) stay undefeated in Region 6-AAAA play. The kicking game and defense also contributed to the win. The Panthers stopped the Bulldogs on fourth down in Southwest DeKalb territory in the game’s closing moments. “Our defense has been tremendous all year,” said Panther head coach Buck Godfrey. “They just really upped it another notch.” … The softball team is the fourth seed out of Region 6-AAAA and will start play in the State Tournament on Friday, when they take on Region 5-AAAA’s winner at Hobgood Park in Woodstock at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers beat Lakeside 4-3, but lost to Forsyth Central 4-3 and North Springs 3-2 in the region tournament. Imani Cabell hit a two-run home run against Forsyth Central and Imani Gayle pitched well in all three games.
