HOGAN’S HEROES …
Linebacker Mark Hogan said during the recent Pigskin Preview in Macon that he’s excited and looking
forward to the season following the Panthers’ 6-5 inaugural season. “I would say that we are ready to get out there
and show people the improvements that we’ve made and to become a more competitive team than we were last year,” said Hogan.
“I think you’ll see that on the field, that we are a more veteran team. We’ve been through some battles and I think this
fall you’ll see some results.”
One thing that Hogan acknowledged was that things are a little different the second
time around. “Our first away game last year was our first ever road trip and the first time for some of our players to
ever be on a plane,” said Hogan. “Some of those things can be a little bit of a distraction so now I think you’ll see us focus in more
on the task at hand and what we need to do to win close games.”
Hogan started eight games last season and was fifth on the team in tackles with 54, including 21 solo tackles.
OFF THE FIELD …
Good news in the classroom. Eighty-six student-athletes from GSU’s winter and spring sports have earned the
Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Award for the spring semester. The CAA Commissioner’s
Academic Award recognizes student-athletes who maintain a cumulative or semester grade point average of 3.2 or
higher. The list includes 16 individuals who also earned All-CAA honors in their sport.
