PANTHER PROWL: Baseball heads to CAA tournament in Wilmington

ATLANTA- The Georgia State baseball team has earned the fourth seed in the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament and will begin play on Thursday at 3 p.m. against top seeded James Madison at UNC Wilmington’s Brooks Field. The Panthers (37-19, 17-13 CAA) defeated the Dukes (37-17, 21-9 CAA) in the teams’ season series, two games to one, in Harrisonburg, Va., April 9-10.

Georgia State is making its third straight appearance in the CAA Tournament, one of just two schools to accomplish the feat, winning the title in 2009.

Second-seeded Old Dominion (28-24, 19-11) will face off against third-seeded UNC Wilmington (30-26, 18-12) in the tournament’s other semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Action continues on Friday with a loser’s bracket game at Noon, followed by a winner’s bracket contest at 3:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the winner of the loser’s bracket game will meet the loser of the winner’s bracket contest.

The CAA championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. The champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship.
