Panther men’s golf receives at-large bid to NCAAs

For the 10th time in the last 11 years, Georgia State men’s golf has been selected to the NCAA Regional. The Panthers will travel to the NCAA Southeast Regional, May 14-16, in Orlando, Fla., hosted by UCF and the Central Florida Sports Commission.

Georgia State will try to best a field of 14 of the nation’s top programs for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Southeast Regional will be held at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. just outside of Orlando. If the Panthers can finish in the top five at the Regional, they will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 28-31 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Georgia State earned an at-large bid after falling to VCU in a sudden death playoff at the Colonial Athletic Association championship on April 19.

The Panthers will compete against nationally-ranked #1 Georgia in the Regional, as well as #10 South Carolina, #14 Indiana, #17 UCF, #26 Florida State, #33 Augusta State and #36 Arizona. Rounding out the field of 14 are Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Iowa, Charlotte, Campbell, and Loyola College.

Georgia State will send junior Tom Sherreard, freshman Allen John, and sophomores Tobias Rosendahl, Brent Paul, and Alan Fowler to the event.

This marks the 10th time in school history that the Panthers have appeared in an NCAA Regional, the first under first-year head coach Joe Inman. For the fourth time in school history, Georgia State will be representing the CAA. Georgia State has appeared in an NCAA Regional every year since joining the CAA in 2005.
