OWL OUTLOOK: Dixon named to all-tournament team

Sophomore Ket Preamchuen is already making a name for herself in only her second year of collegiate golf. Preamchuen became the first Kennesaw State University women’s golfer to win the Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month award.

Preamchuen finished third and led the Lady Owls to their first title under head coach Rhyll Brinsmead at the Palmetto Invitational in October. She went on to finish second at the Challenge at Onion Creek. Her performance led KSU to a sixth place finish over teams ranked in the Golfstat top-150.

“I am very excited to win my first A-Sun golfer of the month award,” said Preamchuen. “My team and I have worked very hard this fall, and I am looking forward to the spring season to continue our success.”

Preamchuen concluded her rookie year last season with a fourth place finish at the A-Sun Championships, helping the Lady Owls to a second place finish.

Kennesaw State’s Spencer Dixon was one of six basketball players named to the Global Sports Hy-Vee Challenge All-Tournament Team. Dixon, a junior, finished second among all players in scoring with 16.8 points per game. He also finished tied for third in the tournament in steals, with a total of seven in four games played. The Owls will visit Southern Illinois Edwardsville Dec. 11.

The Lady Owls basketball team dropped their second straight in a 48-59 loss to Gardner Webb. Sametria Gideon had her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Although the Lady Owls dominated the boards to the tune of 42-40, poor second half shooting led to the team letting this one get away.

“It was a tale of two halves,” said KSU head coach Colby Tilley. “We shot the ball well in the first half, but we couldn’t make anything in the second half.”

The Lady Owls will have two weeks off before they play at Belmont Dec. 16, which also begins conference play within the Atlantic Sun Conference.
