North Oconee state championship-winning quarterback makes college decision

North Oconee state champion quarterback, Harrison Faulkner, has found his next home to continue his football career as he has announced his commitment to Georgia Southern on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

“I chose Georgia Southern because of the relationship I built with Coach Aplin,” said Faulkner, who is the son of Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner who will be entering his third season with the Yellow Jackets in the fall. “I really enjoyed the atmosphere and tradition when I visited back in the fall. And they were one of the first teams to take a chance on me.”

Heading into his senior season in the fall, Faulkner is coming off of the most successful season in North Oconee football history, as he led the Titans to their first state championship in program history, defeating Alan Chadwick and the Marist War Eagles in a low scoring 14-7 state championship.

Coming off of his first full season as a starter for the Titans, Faulkner looks to keep the Titans in the spotlight when the fall comes around for his senior season.

After his championship winning season, Faulkner was voted as the GACA Coaches 4A Offensive Player of the Year, with his coach Tyler Aurandt winning the Coach of the Year as well as North Oconee defensive end Khamari Brooks earning Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Heading into his ninth season leading the Titans football program in 2025, Aurandt had some high praise for his quarterback and the legacy he will eventually leave behind him at North Oconee.

“At the end of my career I’m going to look back and say that Harrison is one of the best players that I had the opportunity to coach,” said Aurandt. “He is the ultimate competitor. Harrison has the innate ability to lead and raise the level of play of everyone around him. Georgia Southern is getting a playmaker. He has the ability to make all the throws, but his best attribute in my mind is all the different ways he can help the offense move the ball and score points. He has great arm talent, ability to extend plays, can process, good short area quickness and exceptional speed at the quarterback position. Georgia Southern is getting a really good football player that loves football, but more importantly a high character kid that’s going to make a positive impact on Georgia Southern’s campus and in the Statesboro community.”
