No. 2 volleyball team defeats No. 4 Titans

The No. 2-ranked volleyball squad split two games this past week, which included a win over Class A’s No. 4-ranked team, Blessed Trinity, and a loss to Class 5A’s No. 7 team, Chattahoochee. The Lady War Eagles now stand at 17-8 and will take on Class 4A’s top-ranked squad, Marist, on Thursday. … On Sept. 13, the cross country squads competed in the Championship Race at the Carrollton Invitational. The boys finished 15th overall, while the girls came in 18th. Nathan Vassey paced the boys team and finished seventh overall. The two squads will compete at Blessed Trinity on Wednesday. … The football team (1-2) was idle this past weekend and will travel to Lakewood Stadium Friday night for a Region 4-AAA clash with the South Atlanta Hornets (0-3). The War Eagles are coming off their first win of the year, a 35-6 demolition of Eagles Landing. For his role in the victory, Juwan Thompson was named the Under Armor High School Athlete of the Week. Thompson, a junior running back, has rushed for over 100 yards in all three games this season.
