The Atlanta Tipoff Club today announced finalists for the 2009 Naismith Girls and Boys High School Player of the Year awards. The lists were determined by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, comprised of leading basketball journalists and administrators from around the country, which based its criteria on player performances this season.
Finalists for the girls award are as follows:

Skylar Diggins Washington High School, South Bend, IN
Brittney Griner Nimitz High Schools, Houston, TX
Monique Oliver Polytechnic High School, Long Beach, CA
Cokie Reed Midway High School, Waco, TX

Kenny Boynton American Heritage School, Plantation, FL
DeMarcus Cousins LeFlore High School, Mobile, AL
Derrick Favors South Atlanta High School, Atlanta, GA
Renardo Sidney Fairfax Senior High School, Los Angeles, CA
John Wall Word of God Christian Academy, Raleigh, NC
Winners will be determined in early March and will be recognized at the annual Naismith Awards banquet March 23, 2009 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta.
