Alpharetta was the top seed heading in and opened up with a 46-13 win over Grayson’s second team. In the second round, Grayson’s A team took care of business and handed the Raiders a 26-20 defeat and a spot in the Loser’s Bracket. Once in the Loser’s Bracket, GAC pulled off a 33-21 win to send the top seed out of the tourney.
GAC wore the No. 6 seed and fell in the first round to Lassiter 30-22. The Spartans kept their hopes alive with back-to-back wins over North Gwinnett and Alpharetta, but eventually were eliminated by Centennial 32-27.
Centennial had a great two days of 7-on-7 with a 5-1 effort in pool play and a long run Friday in the tournament. The Knights beat North Gwinnett 18-13 in the first round and then topped Lassiter 24-15. Mississippi-powerhouse Olive Branch handed them a 34-22 loss in the third round, but Centennial escaped the Loser’s Bracket with consecutive wins over GAC and Grayson 16-8. Centennial played Jefferson County after they fell to Olive Branch in the semis, and then after a 28-27 Jefferson County win, the Warriors got a second chance against Olive Branch in the Championship Game.
Olive Branch was a perfect 11-0 at the tournament and will head home with plenty of bragging rights. A 26-25 semifinals win over Jefferson County was followed with a clutch 20-12 victory over Jefferson County in the Finals.
Archer finished 6-3 after a 5-1 effort Day 1. The Tigers stifled Gainesville in the opening round 33-9, and then fell to Jefferson County 23-20 and GAC 34-24 to end their run.
