After leading the Georgia State baseball team to its first-ever NCAA Regional, senior catcher Marc Mimeault was named to the NCAA Atlanta Regional All-Tournament Team Monday night after his performance in the
tournament over the weekend.
The 11-man team was named after the conclusion of the regional’s final game on Monday night, in which Southern Miss defeated top-seed Georgia Tech, 12-8 to advance to next weekend’s super regionals.
In two games, Mimeault went 4-for-8 at the plate with a run scored, while catching both games behind the plate. The senior led the Georgia State pitching staff to holding Elon, one of the most potent offenses in the country, to just four runs in Saturday’s tough loss to the Phoenix.
Mimeault, who earned All-CAA Second Team honors and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team, led the Panthers in 2009 with a .398 batting average, 14 home runs, 78 hits, 58 RBIs, .658 slugging percentage and .462 on base percentage. He appeared in all but five games for State during his senior season.
His 78 hits are the second best single season total in Georgia State history, only behind teammate Bradley Logan’s 85 hits set just last season.
After graduating with a degree in economics from Georgia State last month, Mimeault has applied for graduate school and hopes to remain at State to earn his masters degree.
