One week after the 2013 team dual wrestling championships, teams headed back out to the mats to prepare for the traditional wrestling championships. Meadowcreek won the Last Man Standing wrestling tournament hosted by Eagle’s Landing. With the win over 15 other teams, Meadowcreek moved into the Class AAAAAA rankings at No. 10. Class A No. 1 Gordon Lee stayed atop the poll for the state’s smallest classification with a victory at the Murray County Invitational. Class AA No. 4 Calhoun was second in the event and in turn moved up one spot in the AA poll.
Class AAAAA No. 1 Pope claimed the program’s sixth straight Cobb County Invitational title over the weekend, as Hillgrove finished second. Kennesaw Mountain, just outside the latest AAAAAA poll, was third in the event with Class AAAAA No. 10 Allatoona finishing fifth. Class AAAAAA No. 7 Wheeler was seventh.
