McEachern’s Te’a Cooper (Tennessee-signee) was named co-MVP with Notre Dame signee Marina Mabrey of the McDonald’s All-American game at the United Center in Chicago on Wednesday night. The East defeated the West 89-87 but it was Cooper’s big first half that gave her 19 of her game-high 21 points.
Cooper came two points short of the game’s scoring record of 23. St. Pius star Asia Durr (Louisville-signee) played for the victorious East team and finished with 14 points off 6-of-13 shooting and added six rebounds. Durr also secured the game-clinching loose ball.
Cooper shot 8-14 en route to her 21-point performance but also committed a game-high nine turnovers.
Wheeler’s Jaylen Brown played for the victorious East team in the boys game and finished with nine points and six rebounds in the 111-91 win. Brown shot 4-8 from the field but struggled at the foul line, netting just 1-of-7 attempts.
