Marvis Lane leads Broncos to first win of season

The football team hosted Shiloh seeking its first win of the season. Junior running back Marvis Lane and sophomore quarterback Ben McLane helped the team grab a 28-7 win. Lane notched two scores on the night and Brice Smith was the leading rusher with 176 yards and a score. Nick Moore chipped in with a fumble recovery. The team is off this week and will return to action on Sept. 26 against Berkmar. … The softball team fell under .500 in Region 8-AAAAA play with a 4-2 loss to Grayson last week. Freshman pitcher Brandi Jones sparkled in relief, as she struck out six Lady Rams while only allowing three hits. Shivani Ghodadra and Aubrey Kemp scored the two Lady Bronco runs while Jessica Neidigh and Chelsea Hawkins tallied the team’s two RBIs. Brookwood left seven runners in scoring position throughout the contest. … The volleyball team fell to 8-8 with two losses last week after a three-set defeat to Parkview and a sweep by Oconee County . Abby Case did her part with 33 assists in the two matches. Kelsey Gratton had 12 kills for the Broncos as well.
