The football team lost on Friday to the Marist War Eagles 45-20. Kentavius Hudson provided a few fireworks on offense for North Springs, rumbling for an 82-yard touchdown run. At the beginning of the game, Marist played with more intensity than North Springs. Starting in the second half, however, the Spartans showed more energy, but by then it was too late. One area that North Springs looks to improve on over the next few weeks is special teams. Marist was able to block three kicks, giving them outstanding field position all night. … The softball team finished the week 3-1 with dominant performances against Lithonia, Berkmar, and Stone Mountain. Against Lithonia, Megan Light pitched a complete-game shutout, which included 12 strikeouts. Kali Gray got the complete-game win with five strikeouts against Berkmar. Erica Burgess pitched a compete game with four strikeouts against Stone Mountain. The team’s lone loss came in a one-run defeat against Holy Innocents. … The volleyball team had a strong week, recording three wins and one loss. The Lady Spartans beat Lakeside-DeKalb 2-0, Stone Mountain 2-0, and Southwest DeKalb 2-0. Their lone loss was to Marist, 2-0.
