With both Georgia and Ole Miss coming off important wins this past Wednesday, the matchup between these two SEC teams is sure to be a good one.
After their first SEC win three days ago against Tennessee in overtime, the Bulldogs look to continue their success at Stegeman Coliseum in the second of three home games for the Bulldogs.
Georgia comes to this game with a 10-8 overall record and the Rebels come with a 12-6 record. Ole Miss leads in the SEC standings with a 2-2 record while Georgia is 1-3.
The leading scorer for Georgia is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with 14.2 points per game. Although Caldwell-Pope only had nine points in the Tennessee game, he played for 41 minutes and made several key plays down the stretch, including the game-clinching free throw in overtime.
Gerald Robinson scored a game high of 16 points against Tennessee along with the tying layup with 16 seconds left in the regulation time. Robinson also assisted Donte Williams with the dunk that gave the Dawgs a 54-53 lead over the Vols late in overtime.
Marcus Thornton also played in the Tennessee game after sitting out several previous games due to a knee injury.
After upsetting No. 18 Mississippi State at home, the Rebels hope to improve their 2-4 road record today. In the last two matchups in Athens, the Rebels walked away with wins (2008, 2010).
Probable starters for Ole Miss are Terrance Henry, Reginald Buckner, Murphy Holloway, Jarvis Summers and Jelan Kendrick. Despite dismissing leading scorer Dundrecous Nelson after being arrested for marijuana possession, the Rebs have two of their last three.
This game will be the 105th meeting between the two, with Georgia holding a 66-39 lead in the series. In five of the last eight games, however, the Rebels have beaten the Dawgs. In Athens, Georgia leads the series 38-11.
