Longhorns handle Centennial and Campbell to move to 6-1

At this time last year, the football team’s record was 0-7. This season, the football team stands at 6-1 and has a chance to earn a playoff spot. On Oct. 10, the Longhorns defeated Centennial 37-17 and on Friday they outlasted Campbell 24-10. In the game against the Spartans, Brian Randolph led the team in rushing with 116 yards and that included an 82-yard touchdown run. Austin Petrik had 105 yards through the air and one touchdown. The Longhorns ended the night with 337 total yards and only one turnover. Kell will travel to Wheeler on Friday.  … The softball team won its first-round game of the state tournament by defeating North Cobb 1-0 on Friday before losing to Parkview on Saturday. The team defeated Duluth in the losers bracket but was eliminated by Cherokee. The Lady Longhorns’ season ends with an overall record of 24-11. … The volleyball team lost to Etowah 2-1 in the first round of the Area 1-AAAAA tournament. The Lady Longhorns were leading by one point in the third game but Etowah bounced back to take the win.
