Lions set for trip to Luella; softball gets first victory

The football team did not have a game this week but will resume its season on Friday on the road against Luella. Last week, M.L. King earned a close victory over McNair 23-21. As for this week, Luella and M.L. King are both Region 2-AAAAA teams, making the game an especially important one. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. … After a season of losses, the  softball team has finally pulled through. The Lady Lions defeated Druid Hills 14-5 in five innings last week. Giselle Jamerson, who is playing first base as a sophomore, went 2-for-3 to go along with two RBIs. M.L. King also fell last Monday, as the Lions lost to Chamblee by a score of 7-2. The final game for the Lady Lions will take place Tuesday, when the team travels to Lakeside. When the two teams squared off last season, the Lions defeated Lakeside by a final score of 13-4. … In what was the volleyball team’s last match of the season, the Lady Lions failed to record a victory, falling 2-0 (25-7, 25-6) last Saturday against areas opponent Houston County.
