Lions’ second half comeback sparked by arm of Nick Lombardo

The football team kicked off region play with a 25-14 win over Northview. The Lions trailed Northview 14-13 at halftime, but picked up two scores in the third quarter. Quarterback Nick Lombardo threw for 84 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions host North Forsyth this Friday. … Krysten Connelly continued to dominate on the mound for the softball team last Wednesday as the Lions (14-3) defeated Northview 1-0 in 10 innings. Connelly gave up just one hit and struck out 15. Connelly was just as good last Thursday, pitching another complete game shutout while striking out 12 to defeat North Forsyth 6-0. The Lions play in the Brookwood Tournament this Wednesday. … The boys cross country team finished fourth in the championship group at the Carrolton Invitational last Saturday. Robert Fensterer led with a time of 16:32 . The girls also finished fourth in the championship group at the Carrolton Invitational. Sara Curry led with a time of 19:53 . The boys and girls will both compete in the Gwinnett County Invite this Saturday at the River Green Complex in Duluth .
