Lindsey’s system clicks in first game as coach

New head coach Chip Lindsey wanted to change the culture of the football program when he arrived at Lassiter, making it more like the atmosphere he had at Hoover High School in Alabama. Their first game of the year took place on Friday against rival Sprayberry and it looks as though things have worked, as Lassiter won big, 42-28. Quarterback Hutson Mason had a big night throwing for 163 yards and four touchdowns. They were able to run the ball effectively with Xavier Morgan running 14 times for 95 yards and scoring one touchdown in the fourth quarter. This was the Trojans first season-opening win since 2005 and was the most points they scored in a game since 2002. They will face Pope on Friday. … The 2007 state champion softball team beat Alpharetta on Thursday by a score of 8-1. With a great mix of sophomores, juniors and seniors, they will continue their quest for another title facing Etowah on Wednesday. … The volleyball team has a perfect record of 11-0 and will look to keep the streak alive as they take on Pope and Milton on Thursday.
