Lassiter looks to return to the top of 5A girls soccer

Lassiter forward Ashlyn Huie is looking to cap off her high school career with another state championship. A Louisville-commit, she is one of the top senior forwards in the state and lifting her program to a state championship is not the tallest of orders.

She has helped Lassiter reach the semifinals the past two years and won a state championship in 2022. The Lady Trojans have consistently been one of the best teams in the state, making at least the quarterfinals in all but one year since 2018. While they have only won one title, their recent playoff losses have come against some of the top programs in the state.

With teams like Marist and St. Pius X no longer in the same classification, Lassiter’s path to a championship may be clearer. However, they will still have to contend with region rival Pope, which also has championship aspirations and several high-level prospects of its own.

In addition to Huie, the Trojans boast senior midfielder Jillian Kluth, another top college prospect who is committed to UAB. Kluth is one of only 10 senior midfielders in Georgia currently committed to play Division I soccer.

The other nine D1 midfielders include Loganville’s Madyson Bentil, Brookwood’s Hayden Barnett, Johns Creek’s Nora Donaldson, Fellowship Christian’s Lily Kate Elphick, Harrison’s Sarah Huston, Buford’s Neely Kerr, Lovett’s Ridley Newton, and Cambridge’s  Aspyn Stucke and Madison Ward.
