Kiwane Garris Is The Most Underrated Guard In the 2025 Class

Kiwane Garris Jr is probably one of the most underrated guards in the 2025 class. Not being ranked on any of the major recruiting platforms does a disservice to the exceptional talent that he is. Garris Jr is 6’5 with a built frame that allows him to punish defenders in the paint. He can drive through the lane and finish through contact with either hand. Garrris is also an underrated shooter who can light you up from distance.

He played in one of the best regions in the peach state that included state-runner-up Newton, and he also played in one of the best classifications in the country in 6A this season. The Grayson Rams schedule a national schedule going up against Combine Academy (NC), Columbus (FL), Millennium (AZ), Sierra Canyon (CA), Owasso (OK), and many more. To put it simply, he thrived in any setting he was put in and was one of the most consistent players in the state this year.

An area where he differentiates himself is on the defensive end. He is a pest and someone who can guard multiple positions and is constantly getting steals and reading the passing lane. He is an excellent on-ball defender and stays nip and tuck with you for the entire game. He was named Defensive Player of the Year for Region 4- 6A. He was also named first-team all-region for his performance on the court in one of the best regions in the state in 2024-2025. Garris was also named a McDonald’s All-American game nominee for the East, getting national recognition from the top high school all-star basketball game in the country.

He is known for his explosive performances on the court and massive dunks that help ignite a crowd. He brings energy every night he is on the basketball court and you can see that by his intensity and passion on the hardwood on both ends of the floor. In his final high school game at Georgia State against Wheeler, he went off showing his full arsenal and ability to hurt defenses from distance, in the paint, or setting up his teammates.

He committed to Cal State Fullerton over six other offers back in November. Per 247Sports, he had offers from Georgia State, Kennesaw State, NJIT, Old Dominion, and Southern Illinois. He comes from a rich background of hoops. His dad, Kiwane Garris made it to the NBA and had a productive four-year collegiate career at Illinois, and had his best season as a senior, averaging 19.3 points per game. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with Garris Jr, who is also a great basketball player with a complete game.

I don’t think it will be long before we see Garris Jr playing P4 basketball in one of the major conferences in the country, making a huge impact at the collegiate level. His game translates, and there is nothing like having a two-way star who can affect the game in a multitude of ways at your disposal.
