JOURNAL OF A COACH: Finalizing schedules highlights the week

New Centennial football coach Jeffrey Carlberg is quickly putting his fingerprints all over the Knights program, and he has invited Score along for the ride during his first year at the helm. Here are highlights from his fourth week on the job.

The last seven days have been exciting as I have now officially begun working at Centennial. This past Monday was my first day of work at Centennial after finally getting my transfer approved.

The days leading up to my first day were busy too. I met with Principal Miletto last Thursday to discuss teaching positions at Centennial, then I met with another fundraising company to listen to a strategic plan to help Centennial raise money for the program.

Friday and Saturday were spent mostly at the Frank Glazier Clinic at the Cobb Galleria. I listened to various speakers with some coaching friends. In the coaching business, sometimes you only get to see past associates once or twice a year, so it was nice to catch up. The Frank Glazier Clinic was afforded me to opportunity to meet with vendors to discuss the purchase of items for the Knights program such as player packs, helmets, tackling sleds, etc.

I was glad to finally begin at Centennial, but my first day was a long one. I also met with the Touchdown Club Executive Board (Patrik Estes, Matt Risse, Herman Howard, Frank O’Neil and Tom Prescott) to discuss fundraising and the setting of the budget.

The week was capped off by finalizing spring practice dates and to begin the summer scheduling of workouts and seven-on-seven camps. I was a nice first few official days at Centennial, but I am excited about the work ahead.
