New Centennial football coach Jeffrey Carlberg is quickly putting his fingerprints all over the Knights program, and he has invited Score along for the ride during his first year at the helm. Here are highlights from his third week on the job.
It was a busy week with meetings every day. On Thursday, I met with the rep from Owens Sporting Goods. I was meeting with him to get quotes on the purchase of uniforms and some equipment. The next night, I had a nice Friday night dinner with members of the Centennial Community, including Principal Steven Miletto, Phil Thomas, our AD, the Booster Club President Patrick Estes and the Umbrella President Dave Nabors and their wives.
Saturday started early with a breakfast meeting with Touchdown Club executives to discuss the budget and 2012 fundraisers, and ended with an interview of a candidate for offensive coordinator. The candidate was a great person and will be a good fit for the Centennial program if we can work out his teaching position.
Monday was our registration day, and it was my first opportunity to meet all of our parents in a “Parent Meeting.”
The final event of the week was a meeting with the new Knights defensive coordinator. We began the installation process and started re-working the playbook. I am very excited to work with the new defensive coordinator, who will be introduced with an official announcement at a later time.
