Jeffrey Carlberg was named the new Centennial football coach recently, and he has wasted no time jumping right in at his new position. After coming over to the Centennial program from the Alpharetta High School coaching staff, Carlberg is making the most of his first head coaching job in Georgia. Last Monday, Carlberg held his first staff meeting to meet coaches from the previous staff. At the meeting Calrberg introduced himself and set up interviews with each of them.
In the days that followed, Carlberg conducted interviews for each member of the previous regime that expressed an interest in staying at Centennial. The new Knights head coach is anxious to construct a staff filled with “quality” people.
“You need quality people to make a quality program,” said Carlberg. He is looking to bring the offensive spread to Centennial with multiple looks on defense. Carlberg noted that he will be more hands on with the defense while still letting his coordinators coach.
Last Wednesday, Carlberg met with the team for the first time to set the standard of accountability for the Centennial program. Approximately 80 players attended the meeting.
Finally, Carlberg just returned earlier this week from a three-day coaching seminar in Franklin, Tenn. Carlberg traveled with varsity coaches Preston Pridgen and Christian Atkinson as well as Matt Risse and Steve Albert from the Junior Knights program. The crew attended the Tony Franklin football system seminar in an effort to learn all about the offensive system and philosophy that Carlberg hopes to install at Centennial.
