High School Transfer Portal: LaDamion Guyton Transfers To Benedictine

As we turned the page into a new year, massive news from Savannah has come out regarding one of the best players in the country: LaDamion Guyton. Guyton has officially transferred to nearby Benedictine from Savannah Christian. Guyton made his name as a freshman with Savannah Christian and played with fellow five-star Elijah Griffin who is now at Georgia.

According to Savannah Morning News Dennis Knight, here was his reason for transferring.

“It was a tough decision to transfer and there were a lot of personal factors involved,” Guyton said. “But the main thing was I think playing at Benedictine will open up opportunities for me by going against better competition. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot playing for Savannah Christian, but I think Benedictine is the best place for me now.”

CBS Recruiting Analyst Tom Lemming first had the news about Guyton at his new school in an interview he did when he toured the state of Georgia interviewing some of the best players in the state.

He started the gates out fast as a freshman helping lead his team to the class 3A state championship before losing to Cedar Grove. He finished his freshman season with 82 tackles, 19.5 tackles, for loss, and 10 sacks. He finished his sophomore year with 52 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks, per MaxPreps.

According to On3 Sports, Guyton is ranked as the No. 1 player in the class of 2027. 247Sports Composite rates Guyton as a five-star, the No. 2 player nationally, and the No. 1 player at his position and in the state for the 2027 class. He holds offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Kentucky, and many more.

When you watch his tape, Guyton is an explosive edge rusher who has great bend and torque. He can beat you with his quick first step or his explosive hands that guide him past an offensive lineman. He is also great at setting the edge and being disruptive in the running game. He is one of the best edge rushers in the country regardless of classification and is only getting started.

Benedictine will now have another elite defensive end prospect coming through the program for the next two seasons. Four-star Herbert Scroggins led the state in sacks this past season and was named an all-classification player by Score Atlanta. Head coach Danny Britt and the Cadets have to be awfully excited about how their trenches and defensive line will look moving forward.
