Hampton ATH impresses at OT7 in Dallas and earns 4-star ranking

Hampton ATH Kamarui Dorsey has blown up in recruiting after a spectacular weekend in Dallas at OT7. On3 labeled him a stock riser and recently donned him a 4-star. On the 7 on 7 circuit, he is running with a prominent C1N coached by former NFL superstar and Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton. I’ve gotten the chance to see him in a few events this spring including the UA Camp in Atlanta and also the Sevens 7 on 7 tournament here recently. Dorsey impressed in both showcasing his impeccable ball skills and ability to cover high-end wide receivers.

According to On3, he is rated as the No. 11 player in the state, the No. 16 ATH, and No. 98 player nationally. The buzz continued after his stellar weekend in Dallas as Dorsey picked up a Notre Dame offer. He is now up to six offers from Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Florida, Western Kentucky, and now the Fighting Irish.

When you roll his tape, one of the things that stands out is his athleticism and length. He drives on the football at the right time dislodging it before the receiver can get a chance to get his hands on it. What is impressive is his ability to move at his size and look like a smaller defensive back while doing it. The way he gets in and out of his breaks to close down the space between him and the receiver is top-tier.

On offense he was elite this past year. He led the team in catches, yards, and touchdowns. Dorsey finished with 41 catches for 668 yards and 10 touchdowns. One of his best games of the season came against Woodland. Dorsey finished with six catches for 218 yards and two touchdowns. On offense, he is just a playmaker. Get Dorsey the ball and get out of the way. He can cut on a dime and use his afterburners to get to the endzone.

On defense, he is special. Dorsey finished with 58 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and three interceptions, including an interception returned for a touchdown. He played some of his best football towards the end of the season finishing with nine or more tackles in two of his final three games. Dorsey is a threat to take any interception for a touchdown and thrives on man coverage. He has great instincts and an ability to get a beat on a play before it happens. All around Dorsey is a special talent and finally starting to get noticed. Expect more colleges to come calling for the standout player especially now that he is on the national radar.
