Meadowcreek High School and Blue Cross BlueShield of Georgia are partnering with USA soccer legend Claudio Reyna to host a free event on Saturday, May 17 (11 am-4 pm) to promote lifestyle changes and healthy living to youth and families. Reyna will lead a soccer clinic before a cooking demonstration with celebrity chef Josh Hopkins and well-known dietitian Sylvia E. Meléndez-Kinger.
Hopkins was a finalist for Food & Wine’s Best New Chef in the southeastern United States and Sylvia has been on the forefront with food, beverage and pharmaceutical clients to develop recipes that promote healthy eating and wellness. Sylvia has teamed up with Coca-Cola, Gorton’s, Ragu, Kellogg’s, ACH/Fleischman during her career and prior to founding Hispanic Food Communications, Sylvia was Senior Culinary Development Specialist and Supervisor of Consumer Test Kitchens at the Quaker Oats Company.
The Claudio Reyna Foundation partners with BlueCross BlueShield and its mission is to “improve the lives of inner-city youth.”

REYNA THE PLAYER..
Reyna’s success as a soccer player and his continued endeavors in the sport give those in attendance a chance to meet one of soccer’s best. Reyna is a FIFA World Cup All-Star (2002) and joined the USA Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012. There is a free jersey available for the first 200 children that register for the free clinic.
Reyna made 111 appearances on the U.S. National team and played a total of 282 games as a professional. His skillsets and knowledge of health and proper lifestyle choices stemmed to a remarkable 14-year professional career that followed his days as a collegiate standout at the University of Virginia. Reyna is a prominent figure in the MLS as the current director of football operations for New York City FC. When Reyna is not in the front office of one of the biggest soccer franchises in the country, he is dedicating much of his time to mentoring youth and families through his non-profit foundation.
