Grizzlies nearly knock off The Branch in thriller

The football team lost yet another close game in its home opener on Friday. In its first region crossover game ever, the Grizzlies lost to Flowery Branch in the closing minutes of the game. The Grizzlies took an 18-17 lead with under two minutes left in the game after Chase Wideman punched one in for a touchdown. Then, with only seconds left on the clock, Flowery Branch answered back with a 20-yard game-winning field goal, making the final score 20-18. The Grizzlies are now 0-2 this season. The team will travel to West Forsyth (3-0) this Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. … The softball team beat North Hall last Thursday 3-0. The Grizzlies are now 7-0 in their region, and will play in the Brookwood Invitational Wednesday through Saturday. The Grizzlies will then travel to Chestatee on Tuesday for a match at 5:55 p.m. … The volleyball team lost to both Decatur, 2-0 (13-25, 13-25), and Holy Innocents, 2-0 (11-25, 21-25), last week. The Grizzlies will travel to West Forsyth on Tuesday to play both North Hall and West Forsyth (6 and 7 p.m.).
