Veterans leapt St. Pius for No. 1 in Class AAAA and the other five top-ranked teams held court over the holidays while the rest of the polls saw significant movements across all six classifications. North Forsyth made the biggest noise in Georgia’s top class and leapt into the No. 2 slot. The Raiders are 13-1 and the lone loss came in a defeat to out-of-state Elizabethton in the Carolina Invitational last weekend. Undefeated Woodstock jumped to No. 8 in the Class AAAAAA poll and has strung together five consecutive double-digit victories in region contests.
In Class AAAAA, Brunswick holds down No. 1 at 15-0. Stephenson made the leap to No. 3 after an impressive 59-53 victory over Morgan County on Saturday and Mays debuts at No. 8.
Veterans’ 14-0 start was enough to jump the Golden Lions in Class AAAA and Jonesboro improved to No. 3 with a sweep at the Carolina Invitational last week. Griffin replaced Gilmer for No. 10 in Class AAAA.
In Class AAA, Dawson County sits undefeated at No. 1 and Kendrick protected its No. 2 status with its 14th straight win to open this season. Washington County replaced Westminster for No. 10 in Class AAA.
Undefeated Holy Innocents’ tops Class AA and Darlington jumped three spots to take over No. 2. Thomasville replaced McIntosh County for No. 10 in Class AA.
In Class A, Stratford Academy debuts at No. 8 and bumps ELCA out of the poll.
