GHSA State Volleyball Championship semifinals are set

The semifinals of the GHSA state volleyball championships are set after quarterfinal action Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the state’s highest class, Alpharetta defeated Forsyth Central 3-1 to earn its semifinal berth against North Forsyth, who beat Hillgrove 3-1 to advance. Walton’s 3-0 victory over Lambert earned the Raiders a semifinals berth against Cherokee, which beat North Gwinnett in five sets in the quarterfinals.

Lassiter beat Creekview 3-0 in the Class 6A quarterfinals to earn a semis berth against Sequoyah, which beat Kennesaw Mountain 3-0 in the quarters. Buford will travel to Pope in the semifinals after beating Lee County 3-1. Pope defeated Lakeside-Evans 3-1 to earn its berth in the semifinals.

In Class 5A, Blessed Trinity will travel to St. Pius X and Greenbrier will travel to Woodward Academy in the semis. Flowery Branch will travel to Northwest Whitfield and Marist will host Fayette County in the 4A semifinals.

Greater Atlanta Christian will host Cherokee Bluff and Sandy Creek will travel to Oconee County for the 3A semifinals. Gordon Lee advanced to the 2A/A Public semifinals and will travel to Lovett and Union County will host Pace Academy. In Class A Private, Mount Paran will travel to Eagle’s Landing Christian and Athens Academy will host Holy Innocents’ in the semifinals.
