Blessed Trinity 34, White County 7
How the game was won: Blessed Trinity scored all five of its touchdowns on the ground to overwhelm host White County early and often. The Titans led 13-0 after one quarter, 27-0 at halftime and 34-0 heading into the fourth quarter. White County finally got on the scoreboard early in the final frame of play on a 14-yard touchdown run by Conley Sosebee, but the Warriors could not get any closer.
Top performers: Blessed Trinity’s first three touchdowns came on scampers by Steele Chambers. He found the endzone on an 89-yarder, a 16-yarder and a 26-yarder. Chambers had 234 rushing yards on 15 yards by halftime before his workload was decreased in the second half with the outcome all but decided. Jake Rudolph and Drew Nichols added touchdown runs for the Titans.
Lovett 42, Stone Mountain 0
How the game was won: Lovett could not get anything going offensively in the first quarter, but it broke a 0-0 tie with nine minutes remaining in the second and quickly ran away from visiting Stone Mountain. The Lions gained 306 yards of total offense while its defense limited the Pirates to a mere 72 yards in the shutout performance. Lovett led 28-0 by halftime and 42-0 heading into the final quarter.
Top performers: Crawford Schwieger led the Lions by completing 12 of 19 passes for 133 yards and he tossed scoring strikes to Peyton Ringer and William Beery. Schwieger also rushed six times for 24 yards. Four rushing touchdowns came courtesy of four different scorers–K.J. Wallace, John Staton, Brady Tindall and David Shepherd. Staton turned just eight carries into 76 yards and he also made three catches for 23 yards. Wallace and Amir Walker had interceptions for Lovett.
West Forsyth 31, Milton 6
How the game was won: West Forsyth led just 14-6 after a Milton field goal in the third quarter, but the visiting Wolverines dominated the fourth quarter with two Kiernen Hamilton touchdown passes.
Top performers: Hamilton was 27-of-40 passing for 280 yards and four touchdowns, two to Ben Bresnahan (7 and 26 yds) and one each to Stephon Bland (23 yds) and Thomas Arundale (5 yds). Bresnahan had eight catches for 109 yards. Bryce Jones hit a 33-yard field goal for West Forsyth in the fourth quarter. Nick Augello of Milton connected on field goals of 48 and 38 yards. Milton star running back Cameron Adams was limited to 57 yards on 22 carries.
Woodward Academy 42, North Clayton 0
How the game was won: Woodward Academy got five total touchdowns from quarterback Ryan Glover to roll over visiting North Clayton. The War Eagles led 14-0 after one quarter, 28-0 at halftime and by the final 42-0 margin going into the fourth quarter. They racked up 512 yards of total offense in the process–365 through the air and 147 on the ground.
Top performers: Glover completed 13 of 22 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns and he also rushed for a score. Joshua Johnson made five receptions for 123 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came in the second quarter. Tahj Gary led the Woodward rushing attack with 105 yards and one score on 14 carries.
Alpharetta 41, Pope 24
How the game was won: Alpharetta used a balance offensive attack to take control early and hold on without much trouble in a victory over visiting Pope. The Raiders turned a 7-3 game into a 27-3 advantage at halftime and they extended their string of unanswered points to 27 with another touchdown midway through the third quarter. Two long scoring strikes for the Greyhounds made the score more respectable after they found themselves trailing 41-10 at one point.
Top performers: Matthew Downing threw three touchdown passes for Alpharetta, an 11-yarder and a 36-yarder to Marcus Hill followed by one from 74 yards out to Carlos Carriere that capped off the Raiders’ scoring. Ellis Merriweather rushed for two scores, his second of which came on 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line. The Raiders also got a touchdown run by Kevin Watkins.
Fellowship Christian 49, Whitefield Academy 0
How the game was won: Fellowship led 28-0 at halftime on the way to matching its season high for points on Homecoming.
Top performers: Jack Hardin threw three touchdown passes, two to Ryan Reid and one to Andrew Johnson, who also had two rushing scores for the Paladins. Andrew Minkert and AJ Nardone also rushed for TDs, with Nardone’s being set up by a 72-yard interception return from Cameron Gill. James Milhollin also had a fumble recovery.
