The Hebron Christian girls are on the quest to give head coach Jan Azar her 17th basketball state title. Azar holds every possible record you could imagine. She’s the winningest coach in state history with 720 wins. She already has the most championships with 16, three of which came with the Lions in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Before joining Hebron, Azar won 13 titles with Wesleyan, the team they beat for the state title last year.
The most impressive part of the streak was six-straight titles from 2008 to 2013.
The Lions are currently ranked number 1 in 1A-3A Private and are led by a duo of 4-star players in Georgia-commit Aubrey Beckham and Miami-commit Danielle Osho, both of whom are ranked inside the top 70 nationally. Their path to a championship won’t be easy, however. Three-time defending champion Mount Paran stands in the way as they look to make it four straight. Additionally, Hebron will have to contend with the top senior in the state, Holy Innocents’ Hailee Swain, who is the No. 8-ranked player in the country in the class of 2025.
The 1A-3A Private boys side of the class has a clear front runner in Holy Innocents’. The Bears are looking for their first title and are led by the state’s top player, Caleb Wilson. Wilson is a massive 6-foot-9, 205-pound power forward who is currently the No. 8-ranked player in the Class of 2025, the only player currently ranked in 1A-3A Private. Their path to the championship will not be easy though, and they will have to face second-ranked North Cobb Christian along with a pair of defending champions in King’s Ridge and Greenforest Christian. Last year, the Bears were upset by North Oconee in the championship, denying them their first title.
