FRIDAY NIGHT ROUNDUP: Grayson wins, Centennial survives

Grayson improved to 6-0 on the year and knocked visiting Dacula out of a three-way tie for the Region 8-AAAAA lead Friday night in Loganville 35-14.

Junior running back Robert Nkemdiche ran for two first-half touchdowns, including a 25-yarder, as No. 3 Grayson took a 20-0 lead into the break. Nkemdiche finished with three touchdowns, and quarterback Nick Schuessler threw for 165 yards and two scores. Callen Hightower scored on a 40-yard pass, and Devin Gillespie took a screen pass 27 yards to paydirt for Grayson. Parkview and Grayson are now both 4-0 in the region.

Class AAAAA

Archer 35, Shiloh 0: The host Tigers got three touchdown runs from Ernest Alexander and three interceptions from Deandre Singleton to improve to 3-3 on the season. Archer quarterback Jarvis Holley and Sean Fowler added short touchdown runs.

Campbell 33, Kennesaw Mountain 7: The host Mustangs scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Zack Chandler to Devin Putnam to go up 7-0 in the first quarter. The Spartans stormed back with 33 unanswered points to end a 13-game skid to the Mustangs.

Centennial 32, Roswell 30: Centennial’s Connor Davis hit a 25-yard field goal with three seconds left to win the game. The Knights cut the lead to one at 30-29 when quarterback Jimmy Meyer scored on a seven-yard run. Centennial went for two and was stopped, but converted an onside kick.

East Coweta 35, Hughes 14: East Coweta used a stifling defense to come out on top against the host Panthers. The Indians picked off four Panther passes, and David Singleton intercepted two of them to increase his season total to seven.

Peachtree Ridge 28, Collins Hill 27: Myron Burton tied the game at 27-all on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Billy Best, and Conner Rouleau kicked the game-winning extra point as visiting Peachtree Ridge rallied from a 27-14 deficit in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter.

Pebblebrook 36 North Cobb 34, 3OT: Host North Cobb took a 14-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the visiting Falcons came back to tie the game late to force overtime. Sophomore Perry Sheldon caught the game-winning two-point conversion from quarterback C. J. Goodman.

Etowah 27, Wheeler 13: Running back Devonte Wheaton scored on a 95-yard touchdown run to lead visiting Etowah. Kicker Ryan Hopper also pitched in with 28- and 43-yard field goals.

Lassiter 63, Cherokee 13: The host Trojans wasted no time in leading 51-0 at halftime. Eddie Printz threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns, two to Charlie Hegedus. Lane Jackson ran for two scores.

Marietta 35, Woodstock 13. Blue Devils quarterback Anthony Jennings used his arm and his legs to almost singlehandedly beat the visiting wolverines. Jennings posted three touchdowns through the air and rushed for a fourth. Jalen McLaurin rushed for Marietta’s other score.

South Gwinnett 49, Berkmar 17: Josh Boyd had touchdown runs of 56, 31 and eight yards in the Comets’ home win, finishing with 185 yards rushing on 16 carries. Mark Watts added a 33-yard touchdown run for South Gwinnett.

Class AAAA

Chattahoochee 58, Woodland-Bartow 20: Chattahoochee’s Travis Marshall had a career day against the host Wildcats. The quarterback completed 15-of-22 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Creekview 28, South Forsyth 23: Host Creekview used the big plays of Riley Davis in their victory over the War Eagles. Davis caught a 67-yard halfback pass from Donte Hubbard in the first half and returned an interception for a score in the second half.

Flowery Branch 56, Habersham Central 31: The Falcons defended home turf with a strong air attack to lead 42-17 at halftime over the Raiders. Kanler Coker finished 10-for-16 for 250 yards and five passing touchdowns and a rushing score. Casey Osbourne and C.J. Curry each had two touchdowns.

Forsyth Central 28, Cass 0: In a hard-fought half, the Colonels and home Bulldogs were tied at halftime. J.T. Locke opened the scoring and Alex Taylor rushed for two touchdowns and 138 yards. Spencer Transue added a score in the fourth quarter.

Jonesboro 34, Mundy’s Mill 6: The host Cardinals penetrating defense helped upend Mundy’s Mill. Wideout Cameron Sutton scored on a 6-yard run from the wildcat formation and caught a 65-yard touchdown. The Cardinals held the Tigers scoreless in the second half.

Marist 53, Lakeside-DeKalb 0: Gray King returned the opening kick 86 yards for a touchdown as Marist rolled over visiting Lakeside-DeKalb. King also rushed for two scores, and five different players ran for touchdowns in the shutout.

Sandy Creek 42, Locust Grove 0: The host Patriots scored all of their points in the first half, getting a 41-yard touchdown reception from Jaquay Williams and two defensive scores from Shaquille Wiggins. Cole Garvin was 10-for-11 for 212 yards.

Starr’s Mill 35, McIntosh 0: John Smith ran for 201 yards and three scores to pace the host Panthers. Brandon Ruff returned a punt 59 yards for a score and caught a 36-yard strike from Dylan Autera.

Union Grove 28, Dutchtown 8: Visiting Union Grove evened its record at 3-3 behind Jonathan Selfe’s three rushing touchdowns and 100 yards on 23 carries. Derrick Craine also had 154 yards and a score on 20 carries for Union Grove.

Class AAA

Allatoona 44, Murray County 0: Running backs Miles Jones and T.J. Herron made the most of their limited carries in the visiting Buccaneers’ win over Murray County. Jones had five carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Herron also scored twice on five rushes.

Carrollton 56, LaGrange 7: Telvin Brown ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns in the first half for the host Trojans. Carrollton had 388 total yards and led 49-7 at the half. The game went to a running clock at the start of the third quarter.

Johns Creek 23 Lambert 0: The Gladiators defense forced six turnovers en route to a home shutout over Lambert. Matt Azemar scored on a 70-yard catch and run on offense. He also intercepted two Longhorn passes.

Stockbridge 9, Henry Co. 7: Javon Brandon forced a fumble to thwart a late Warhawks drive and seal the victory. Curtis Lindsey scored on a 40-yard run for the hosts. Jonathan Lean-Bart ran for a touchdown in a losing effort.

Class AA

Blessed Trinity 21, Jackson-Atlanta 12: The visiting Titans scored to clinch the win when quarterback Spencer McManus hit running back Sam Roberts on fourth-and-four from the Jackson 12. McManus scored on a one-yard sneak while Jordan Denson added a four-yard scoring run.

Class A

Bremen 22, Walker 13: The host Blue Devils used the ground attack to defeat Walker. In total, Bremen rushed for 265 yards on 48 carries with Bolcaire Driver leading the pack with 143 yards on 20 carries; Ryne Eriquezzo rushed for 62 yards and a score.

Eagle’s Landing Christian 58, Strong Rock Christian 6: Quarterback Aaron Spratlin threw touchdowns to Joe Walker and Travis Mamon, and John Tatum rushed for two scores in ELCA’s home victory. Linebacker Caleb Lavigne scooped up a Strong Rock fumble and returned it for a touchdown.

First Presbyterian 28, Whitefield Academy 10: First Presbyterian held the visiting Wolfpack to just 35 rushing yards, and got two passing touchdowns from Brooks Stroud to Scott McCormick. Stroud also ran for a score, as did fullback Ben Dubose.

Georgia Military 29, Hebron Christian 7: Andrues Warthen led the visiting Bulldogs to victory behind a stellar night. He rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns with one of the scores on a 62-yard fake punt. He also intercepted pass on defense.

Mt. Paran 28, Gordon Lee 7: Three rushers scored touchdowns for the Eagles in their road win over Gordon Lee. Thomas Jay scored a touchdown and led all Mt. Paran rushers with 100 yards. Dennis Bell also rushed for a score and Carter McKinnon added two touchdowns.

Mt. Pisgah 35, Fellowship Christian 14: The host Eagles were led by quarterback Kyle Sloter who finished 11-for-16 with 170 yards and three touchdowns. Kyle Jackson ran for 94 yards with rushing touchdown and receiving score. Oz Dixon caught two touchdowns. Mt. Pisgah led 14-7 at the half.

Wesleyan 39, King’s Ridge Christian 13: The visiting Wolves got 343 yards passing with two touchdowns from quarterback Will Anderson, who also scored twice on one-yard sneaks. Brandon Gilliam and Zander Yost also scored on the ground.
