Kota Suttle Jr is one of the best two-way players in the country and was key on both ends in the state championship and throughout the season for the Wheeler Wildcats. He had a memorable play on defense in transition. As the Minnesota football commit Zach Harden drove into the lane to slam it home, Suttle Jr jumped up and rejected the dunk attempt showcasing his value and ability on the defensive side of the ball. He always guards the opposing team’s best player and takes the challenge game in and game out. He is fresh off a state championship with the Wheeler Wildcats who won their 10th in program history. Suttle Jr described the feeling of winning a state championship.
“It felt amazing to win this ring because after doing it my freshman year I was eager to do it the next year but I wasn’t able to due to my injury. Being able to come back and have a very big impact on the win means a lot. I also enjoyed doing it with my teammates who I consider my brothers,” said Suttle Jr.

He gives a lot of credit to his head coach for his continued growth and development. Head Coach Larry Thompson has established himself as one of the best coaches in the country constantly challenging his players and demanding the best.
“Over the last three years I’ve had the chance to develop under Coach Thompson and the rest of his staff and I feel like I have grown in the area of understanding the game and the area of intangibles that foster a championship mindset,” said Suttle Jr.
In terms of recruiting, Suttle Jr, he has offers from Radford, Howard, UGA, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, George Mason, Georgia State, and UCF. He doesn’t have any visits set up or scheduled yet. Despite these offers, I think he should have more offers coming in. He does have a four-star rating per ESPN, but should be a national name. He’s proven he can play for a powerhouse and be a great player on both ends.
This summer he is set to run with Team Thad on the Nike EYBL circuit, one of the best AAU circuits in the country filled with D1 prospects and players who have made it to the NBA. Suttle Jr will get another chance to prove just how good he is on the circuit. Recent notable players that have played on the circuit are the Boozer Twins (Cameron and Cayden Boozer), Cooper Flagg (Duke), Caleb Wilson (North Carolina), and so many more notable players.
“I’m really excited to play this year given the fact that I wasn’t able to 16U last year, but it has made me hungrier than ever to get back to that level of action. I’m excited and looking forward to running with Team Thad for my last AAU summer! I really like the style of play and think we have a great chance to win the Peach Jam. I look forward to establishing myself as a national name, a top-tier player, winning the Peach Jam, and creating more positive opportunities for my future,” said Suttle Jr.

I believe Suttle Jr will blow up this spring and summer and have more offers coming in for his rare two-way talent. You see a lot of prospects be great at one thing but rarely do you get well-rounded talent that is versatile at the prep level. Suttle Jr is one of those rare players. He can run an offense at the point guard position and set up others for opportunities. Suttle Jr can bully you with his strong, physical frame in the paint, and can also stretch the defense with his jump shot whether he is taking a mid-range or three-pointer. A thing that catches your eye is his ability to affect the game without needing the ball in his hands. He moves well without the ball in his hands and can also spot up and be a knockdown shooter. When we look back at the career of the two-time champion, we will say that whatever college team landed him got a steal and a player that is a winner both on and off the court.
