Football team enjoys bye, plays McEachern Friday night

The football team had the week off last week, and it was needed after suffering a tough 13-10 loss to Kell in Week 1 of the season. The Wolverines will play McEachern on Friday in their first region game of the season. The Indians are also coming off a difficult loss, as Etowah defeated the Indians 14-0 last Friday. After facing the Indians, the Wolverines will take on Marietta, Etowah and North Cobb; all three teams won their games last week. Head coach Mike O’Brien had his team playing hard in their first game of the year and it should be no different in these next four games. … The softball team took part in the Shaw Invitational last week and went 1-1 as Woodstock defeated Northside-Columbus 2-1 but came up short against Greenbrier 6-5. The team will host South Cobb on Thursday. … The volleyball team has been off since Aug. 28, but is coming off the break with a win over Marietta. The Wolverines will try to go two-for-two against Sprayberry and McEachern on Thursday.
