On Oct. 24, the football team fell to North Cobb by the score of 21-15. It was an almost identical tally last week, as the team lost to Harrison 21-14 despite two touchdown throws from quarterback Chris Tanzy. The loss dropped the team to 3-6 overall and 2-6 in Region 5-AAAAA. The Blue Devils will host Kennesaw Mountain this Friday in the final game of the regular season. … The volleyball team ran into eventual-champion Northview in the first round of the state tournament, falling in straight games to end its season. … The boys cross country team won its first team region title in school history on the strength of a 1-2 finish by Mark Hirons and Obiandu Igwe. Hirons won the individual title at the Region 5-AAAAA meet at Harrison with a personal best time of 16:00.37, while Igwe, the pre-race favorite and defending region champion, finished second with a time of 16:08. Both runners will participate in the state meet this Saturday at Carrollton High School. For the girls team, Maggie Henderson finished fourth with a time of 19:50.08 to qualify for the state meet.
