Football falls just short of monumental upset

On Friday, the Titans almost put together the impossible dream: beating Buford in the regular season. Fighting a wet field and the defending state champions, the Titans held a 10-7 lead late in the fourth. Blessed Trinity had a fourth-and-1 from inside the Buford 5 and Titans’ head coach Ricky Turner elected to go for it, in hopes of putting the game away. He had reason to believe his team could do it, seeing as the offense had already piled up 308 yards. However, they fell short of 309. The Wolves got the ball back and scored with 37 seconds to go to make the score 14-10. Sam Burkhalter rushed for 200 yards, only 23 yards less than the entire Buford offense. This Friday, the Titans will travel to Decatur before the final regular season game against Westminster. … It was a disappointing end to the Titans’ volleyball season, as the girls fell to Savannah Christain in the quarterfinals of the AA/A state tournament. After not losing a set in their first two matches, the Titans lost a 3-1 decision to end their playoff run.
