FCA Cherokee Hosting ‘UGA Night of Champions’ with Ben Watson, Sedrick Van Pran, Malaki Starks and Mark Richt

Georgia Bulldog legends and greats will take center stage on Friday, July 7 at the First Baptist Church Woodstock for the “UGA Night of Champions” hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Cherokee chapter. Admission is free and tickets are provided courtesy of generous sponsors and individual donors. The featured guests that will be headlining the event at the 7,000-seat megachurch includes Georgia alum and Super Bowl champion tight end Ben Watson and former Georgia head coach Mark Richt. Additionally, current Bulldogs Malaki Starks and Sedrick Van Pran will be featured speakers after helping lead Georgia to a second-consecutive national title this past season. Van Pran is a two-time champion and one of the top centers in the nation and rising sophomore Starks earned Freshman All-American recognition in his debut and helped capture the recent title.

“We are so excited to be bringing such a great event to the Cherokee County community,” said FCA Cherokee Area Director Steve Hyland. “There are so many Georgia fans in the Woodstock area and we are expecting great turnout.”

The doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be a silent auction with opportunities to win signed memorabilia from all three players and much more. Included in the memorabilia is a Georgia football helmet autographed by the Bulldogs’ last five head coaches, which includes Vince Dooly, Ray Goff, Jim Donnan, Richt and Kirby Smart. The event will start at 7 p.m. and will conclude at 8 p.m.

Coach Richt will also present the Cherokee FCA Coach of the Year Award that will be given to the coach that best exemplified commitment to the community on and off the field.

“When we were thinking about this award, we could not think of a better example for a man that embodied these traits than Mark Richt,” said Hyland. “We want this to be a successful fundraiser, but the most important mission is to bring the community together and share the gospel of our Lord and Savior.”
