Falcons look to improve linebacker play with addition of Peterson

After losing starting linebackers Keith Brooking and Michael Boley from last year’s team, the Atlanta Falcons upgraded the position on Tuesday by coming to terms with unrestricted free agent Mike Peterson.According to league sources, Peterson and the Falcons came to a two-year agreement, though the financial details of the deal were not immediately available.

Peterson, 32, spent his first four years in the league with the Indianapolis Colts and the last six with the Jacksonville Jaguars. During that time, the former University of Florida Gator played in 137 games, making 127 starts. He has 1000 career tackles with a high of 137 in 2002, and registered 100 or more tackles in four straight seasons (2002-2005). Peterson also has 19.5 sacks, 15 interceptions and 22 passes defensed for his career.
