The Atlanta Falcons today announced their 2014 preseason schedule. The team will host Miami and Tennessee and will meet on the road with AFC South foes Houston and Jacksonville.
The Dolphins will visit for the preseason opener and it will be the 12th time the teams have met in the preseason (tied 6-6). The Falcons will face the Houston Texans in the preseason for the first time in franchise history next with a trip to Reliant Stadium.
Atlanta’s game with Tennessee at the Georgia Dome will also be a preseason rubber-match. The Falcons and Titans have met six times in exhibition, including a 27-16 Titans win in Nashville in 2013. The Falcons will close out the 2014 preseason in Jacksonville, which will mark the fifth straight season and the 10th time overall the Falcons and Jaguars have faced off in the preseason. Jacksonville beat the Falcons last year 20-16 in the preseason and are 7-3 all-time against Atlanta in exhibition.
The Falcons are 1-11 the last three preseasons and 7-17 all-time in the preseason under Mike Smith. This will be the first time since 2008 that Atlanta will enter the preseason coming off a losing season.
