Elite Junior: Chase Middleton

Brookwood HS

Brookwood’s football team was led by some great upperclassmen like Chase Middleton this season. He had 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks on the year. Middleton had a successful season playing linebacker and defensive end for the Broncos, but his humble nature keeps him from taking credit.

“My season has been very productive and that is from having a great coaching staff and hard-working teammates that have helped me throughout the season.” Middleton transitioned from linebacker to defensive end during the season. After an 0-3 start, the Broncos went on to win six of the next eight.

Middleton spent this past summer honing his craft by attending a Junior Day at Clemson and attending different combines around the state. UGA’s linebacker coach Kirk Olivadotti told Middleton’s parents that he stood out from the rest of the pack and Georgia Tech’s defensive coordinator Ted Roof told them he had great athleticism to go along with his excellent footwork and speed. Middleton backed that up when he ran a 4.7 at his last combine. Middleton spends his time learning from those who are experts in the field, and he also teaches those who are looking for advice.

“Over the summer, several of my teammates and I helped out in two separate football camps for younger kids to help them perfect their craft by becoming the best football player they can be,” Middleton said.

The Brookwood football community gives back in other ways, too. Middleton is a member of a select group of players who get the opportunity to help those who are less fortunate by collecting and donating food and clothing. This program has been helping the Brookwood community for years, and Middleton has done his part to give whatever he can.
