Early turnovers doom Mustangs’ hopes of consecutive victories

The football team, after snapping its 43-game losing streak with a win over Duluth in Week 2, played host to the South Gwinnett Comets last Friday night at their home field, The Creek. The Mustangs had refused to watch the tape of their previous win, electing instead to focus on the Comets. Thanks to two early interceptions, however, South Gwinnett jumped on the Mustangs early, scoring twice in the game’s first 22 seconds. The first pick was followed by a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, while the next interception was returned for a score. Meadowcreek managed to score a respectable 12 points in the first half, but still trailed by 20 after the first two quarters. In the end, the Mustangs fell 52-18. … The Volleyball team grabbed a win over Duluth last week. The 3-1 win (25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23) brought the team’s record to 5-9. The Mustangs will be in action on Thursday in a three-way match against Berkmar and Flowery Branch. The road match will get underway at 6 p.m. … The cross country team will enter its second competition of the year this week in as they run at West Hall.
