Ealey-to-Hill combo gives Wolverines tie against Redan

The football team did not win its season opener against Redan, but it didn’t lose either. Miller Grove tied Redan 12-12 on Friday. Quarterback Mydrikus Ealey filled in for injured starter Kendrick Ings and tossed two touchdown passes to wide receiver Stephen Hill, as the Wolverines led the Raiders 12-6. Aided by a controversial pass-interference call, Redan scored late, but missed the extra point. “Terrible, terrible call,” said Miller Grove head coach Jasper Jewell of the iffy ruling. No overtime was played between the two teams in different classifications. Miller Grove will next play Southwest DeKalb on Friday at Panthersville Stadium at 8 p.m. Jewell talked about the upcoming matchup with the Panthers. “We’ve got to be able to stop the run, we’ve got to be tough on defense and we’ve got to capitalize on everything on offense,” Jewell said. … The volleyball team will next be in action on Tuesday when it travels to Chamblee. The team will play Chamblee at 5 p.m. and Lithonia at 6 p.m. … The softball team hosts North Springs on Thursday and Chamblee on Tuesday.
