The football team racked up 117 yards in penalties last Friday, but it was Dacula who made the final mistake with a missed extra point with 1:47 left that gave the Eagles a 14-13 win. The Eagles led 14-0 early in the third quarter, but drives of 19 and 15 plays by Dacula, as well as penalty flag after penalty flag thrown at the Eagles, led to Dacula’s comeback. The Eagles (2-0) travel to Chattahoochee this Friday. … The No. 3-ranked softball team lost to Norcross last Wednesday 1-0. Despite the loss, Kayla Floor pitched well, going the distance and striking out nine. The girls rebounded on Thursday defeating North Forsyth 4-0. Lauren Reader pitched a complete-game shutout and struck out five batters. … The volleyball team fell twice on Thursday to Centennial and South Forsyth. Morgan Wimmer had a combined four aces and Kimberlee Mankin led the team with eight kills in the two matches. … Both the boys and girls cross country teams were off this week. They resume action this Saturday in the Carrollton Invitational.
